The opening angle of a cup hinge defines the angle between the closed furniture door and the door that is open as far as it will go. Depending on the installation situation, smaller opening angles (for adjacent walls) or larger opening angles (for better accessibility in corner cabinets) can be useful. Sometimes the possible opening angle must be limited to prevent the door from colliding with other components. In such cases, special opening limiters are available to make the pot hinge compatible.

How to calculate the hinge distance

Calculating hinge spacing is a critical step when installing or replacing cabinet doors. The distance is basically made up of two main components: the mounting plate distance and the distance from the hinge cup to the outer edge of the door, often referred to as the cup distance.

By using a mounting plate with a certain distance, the distance of the door to the cabinet can be changed. For example, using a mounting plate with a 3 mm distance can increase the distance of the door by 3 mm.

The cup distance, on the other hand, is often referred to as the cup distance.

The cup distance, on the other hand, refers to the distance from the drilled hole edge of the hinge cup to the outer edge of the furniture door. This value is set to 4 mm by default, but can be adjusted to a value between 3 mm and 6 mm depending on the hinge properties. Changing this value may cause the door to appear closer to or further from the cabinet side.

It is important that you calculate and adjust these distances accurately to ensure correct door installation and optimal function. An accurate tape measure and a good screwdriver are helpful tools.
