How are lever handle sets constructed and where are they used?
A handle set consists of two parts: Handle and lock. These can be connected via a plate or visually separated. In the second case, a rosette surrounds the lock. In terms of functionality, one variant is in no way inferior to the other. The difference lies in the appearance: lever handle sets with a rosette look a touch more modern and minimalist, which is why they are often used in new buildings. Handle sets with escutcheon are also available with decorations or patterns. These are mainly used in rural and rustic designed houses.
The materials: as varied as you
As varied as tastes are, so are the materials from which lever handle sets for interior doors are made. The cheapest variant is handle sets made of aluminium. Sets made of stainless steel or brass are more robust and durable than those made of aluminium and therefore also more expensive. Special, forged lever handle sets are a real eye-catcher, but are in the higher price segment due to the elaborate workmanship.
As far as colour is concerned, you have a wide choice. Whether silver, brass-coloured, black or with ceramic inlays: we have the right handle set in our range for all preferences and tastes.
Good to know: Material and colour have no influence on the functionality. Inexpensive handle sets made of aluminium work just as well as those made of stainless steel or wrought iron. The choice of material therefore depends primarily on your ideas and your budget.
Special solution: lever handle set for the WC door
Lever handle sets for WC doors are equipped with a special locking function. A rotary knob enables locking from the inside. In an emergency, however, the lock can also be opened from the outside.
3 frequently asked questions about lever handles and our answers
We frequently receive questions about lever handle sets for room doors. We'd like to answer the three most common ones here:
Can I install handle sets myself?
Fitting a door handle is not witchcraft. With a little craftsmanship, you can do it yourself quickly and easily. In the third part of our Ultimate Door Guide you will find step-by-step instructions. If you have any questions during the installation process, our customer service team will be happy to help.
Can a lever handle set for interior doors also be used for exterior doors?
Indoor lever handles for interior doors are not designed for outdoor use. In particular, the mechanics cannot withstand weather conditions such as rain, moisture or temperature fluctuations. We recommend that you use special handle sets for exterior doors that are suitable for outdoor use.
Can I replace an old handle set with a new one?
Of course you can replace an old door handle with a new one. We recommend choosing a set that is roughly the same size and shape as the old one. Otherwise, edges in the door leaf or colour deviations due to the darkening of wooden doors may be visible. When buying, make sure that the mounting plates of the new set match the existing holes in the door. Since handle sets are standardised, however, there should usually be no problems here.
