Lienbacher Langschildgarnitur

This antique langaschildgarnitur is made of solid wrought iron, guaranteeing a long service life. Thanks to the included mounting materials, this door handle set can be quickly and easily installed, even by amateurs. It does not accumulate unsightly deposits and impresses with its cleanly processed edges and corners on the door handle. This makes it ideal for interior doors in residential areas.

It is suitable for both new doors and for renovating old ones. Thanks to this door handle with langaschild, particularly old antique wooden doors can shine in their former glory. However, you can also use this antique handle set from Lienbacher to provide a unique contrast to modern doors.

What distinguishes door fittings with langaschild?

In these door fittings, the handle and the lock are connected to each other via the langaschild, forming a fixed unit. The advantage of this is that during renovation and the replacement of the old door handles, the door often does not need to be repainted. This is because the width and height of the langaschild can often completely cover the imprints of the old handle and lock.

For this reason, the langaschildgarnitur is often referred to as a renovation handle set. Models with a langaschild can greatly facilitate renovation work. Thanks to such a door handle set, damages from the old handle from the outside are no longer visible, and painting and repair work are no longer necessary. In some cases, special renovation handle sets with an extra high and wide plate are used.

Langaschildgarnitur or rosette handle set?

In principle, there are two types of door handles, either with a plate or with a rosette. With a plate handle, you can still distinguish between a langaschildgarnitur and a short plate handle set, with the short plate being approximately a quarter shorter. Plate handles - provided they are not security fittings - have visible fastenings, so you can see the screws from the outside.

In contrast, a rosette handle set consists of separate handles and locks. You can often choose between round and square rosettes. In our shop, you will find a wide range of rosette handle sets in various designs and styles. Some people prefer the appearance of a rosette handle set, also because the fastenings are not visible from the outside. It seems to practically float on the door.

When renovating, you can much more easily replace a rosette handle set with a langaschildgarnitur. The langaschild can completely cover the left imprints. The reverse is not as effective, as the rosettes usually cannot cover the holes and screw holes of a plate. In this case, you would have to prepare or repair the door before installation and at least partially repaint it.

Installing the new langaschildgarnitur

The installation of a langaschildgarnitur can be done in a few steps and can be easily carried out by anyone:

  1. Loosen the door handle and remove it. To do this, you need to loosen a small screw on the underside of the door handle with a small hex key. If you cannot find the screw, look at the opposite door handle.
  2. After removing the door handle, unscrew the old handle set. For rosette handle sets, you may need to remove the cover to access the screws.
  3. Now attach the new langaschildgarnitur and check if the drill holes match the old ones. If not, mark them and pre-drill. It's better to drill the hole too small than too large. You can still drill again.
  4. After screwing on the new langaschildgarnitur, you can now reinsert and fix the door handle.
