Gate latches

A secure and stable lock is important in one's own home for gates and doors, but also for windows and furniture. After all, all this should only be open when we really want it to be. And that is exactly why they were invented: Gate bolts. The function of these little helpers is to ensure optimum locking in gate or door locks. And for this purpose - depending on the area of application - various options have become established. Exactly which version is used depends, among other things, on the size, weight and design of the gate, door or piece of furniture. In addition, individual preferences as well as the budget play a role.

In our online shop, you will find a wide range of gate bolts for sheds, garden gates and the like - from floor sliders to overhead bolts.

Finding the right gate latch

A gate latch is not just a gate latch. In the meantime, the areas of application have become diverse. For example, there are gate bolts for entrance or driveway gates, swing gates, sliding gates, garden gates and garden house doors, stable doors or multi-purpose doors. And they are also sometimes used for furniture. A few of the most important variants are as follows:

  • Passing gate bolts: Passing gate bolts are a frame made of metal that is placed around a door so that thieves and thieves don't stand a chance. This is because these components are usually designed to open outwards - they are therefore not seen from the inside. Optimal protection, then, which is put in place with just a few screws.
  • Double gate cover: For double-leaf gates, on the other hand, there are double gate covers, also called garden gate closures. They are made of various materials, such as steel, stainless steel, wrought iron or galvanised and are therefore used both indoors and outdoors.
  • Floor sliders or gate bolts: These gate bolts are used in particular to lock the second leaf on double gates.
  • Sliding latch: This variant is held in the upper position with the help of a spring and a moulded nose.
  • Universal deadbolt: This uncomplicated design fits in many cases. Practical and at the same time decorative lock bolts like these not only enhance doors and furniture, but are also a decorative element for shutters or flaps.
  • Steel hooks with angle plates: They serve specifically as storm security
  • Security door latch with combination lock: Those who attach great importance to security will reach for this variant.

You can also get strike plates from us. And if you want to equip particularly heavy gates or doors with gate bolts, you can choose heavy-duty versions. This often requires a base plate to make the locking mechanism at the bottom of the bolt even more stable.

Various durable materials

The material also plays a role in choosing the right gate latch. We increasingly rely on steel or stainless steel for our products. Both are resistant, robust and durable. If you want something more modern, go for the black versions, if you like it classic, opt for galvanised products.

Easy installation of gate bolts

Depending on the design, gate bolts often include a bolt, also called a pin, with a screw-on plate, a rod guide and, if necessary, a base plate. All this is quickly put together and can be mounted on different surfaces such as wood, metal or steel without much effort. Nevertheless, it is advisable to take a look at the respective assembly instructions for details on the dimensions, screw holes or the total length in the closed and open state. It is also advisable to transfer the exact position of the rod guide to the door leaf in advance and to mark important details. Depending on the surface material, it is then screwed in using a drill or special attachments.
