Screw-on hinges

Whether for cupboards and chests of drawers or even toy or jewellery boxes - we encounter hinges in many different ways in everyday life. No wonder, because they are indispensable. And craftsmen are now spoilt for choice, because in recent years more and more different components have been designed for special areas of application.

One category is hinges.

One category is screw-on hinges, which can be put in place in just a few steps. We have lots of them in stock in our online shop. Click through the products and find the perfect screw-on hinge or strap for your doors and furniture!

Hinge or hinge?

Many craftsmen first ask themselves the question: do I need a hinge or a band? A hinge is a movable fitting that consists of two lobes connected by a pin. In most cases, these are inseparable hinges, whereby the frame lobe, for example, is mounted on the cabinet carcass and the door lobe is mounted on the movable cabinet door. Finally, the pin acts as a pivot.

A door hinge or screw-on hinge for a door has exactly the same pivoting function, but differs from the classic hinge in one important point: it is separable. This means: the lobes can be taken apart. With both, the length of the axis determines the height of the respective hinge or strap. It is also important to know exactly what load the component will later have to bear, what opening angle is desired and on what surface the hinge will be fixed. Hinges and hinges can be screwed, welded or clipped, for example. There are also hinges without joints - for example, especially for caravans.

Four important aspects in the selection

So the possibilities are many - and therefore it is often not always easy at first glance to decide on the right screw-on hinge or strap for doors, furniture and co. The following considerations or aspects help with the selection:

  • Substrate: If you want to attach hinges to wood or concrete substrates, you should choose screw-on versions. For metal, on the other hand, you are better off with hinges for welding.
  • Location: If you want to use the screw-on hinge outdoors, weatherproof materials are a must. In this case, it is best to choose stainless steel or stainless steel. If, on the other hand, weather influences play a lesser role, other materials such as plastic can be used. This has the advantage that it is particularly light. It is therefore well suited for small furniture, storage box lids or caravans.
  • Weight: The weight of the door to be fixed must correlate with the load-bearing capacity of the hinge. Brass hinges, for example, which were specially developed for furniture construction, cannot take on heavy door leaves.
  • Installation: This depends on your individual preferences: Do you prefer a classic hinge or an internal screw-on hinge? Also, don't forget to choose the correct stop, i.e. left or right.

Many options with DIY tools

To ensure that you find the right screw-on hinge or door hinge, we have stocked our online shop with a number of different variants. For example, you can find screw-on hinges with springs that allow the sash to close automatically. We also offer alternatives especially for furniture that limit the opening of the door so that it does not bump against walls or the piece of furniture itself and damage it.

Our range also includes self-closing and internal screw-on hinges, ladder hinges, screen hinges, screw-on hinges especially for butt hinged doors or folding doors, hinges for built-in refrigerators as well as cover caps and screw-on hinges that even score with a decorative head.
