Dowels & dowel rods
What type of dowel should I use for concrete? Heavy-duty dowels made of metal or plastic are best suited for concrete as they can anchor well in the concrete and offer a high load-bearing capacity.
Can dowels be reused? As a rule, dowels should not be reused as they can be damaged when removed and thus lose their holding power. It is advisable to use new plugs for each fixing.
How deep do I need to insert the plug into the wall? The depth to which the plug needs to be inserted into the wall depends on the type of plug and the material to be fixed. A rule of thumb is that the plug should be approximately the same length as the component to be fixed so that it provides a secure hold.
