Kreg Europe

The tool manufacturer Kreg started out by solving a problem. Founder Craig Sommerfeld wanted to join wooden parts of a kitchen dresser in such a way that no screw joints were visible. In order to drill the holes at an angle, he developed a tool that he later patented: the pocket hole drilling template. This and other templates are still the flagship of Kreg Tools today.

From carpenters for carpenters

Many of Kreg's employees come from the woodworking industry themselves or enjoy working with wood at home. The company has set itself the goal of bringing heart, mind and hand together during the product development process. This starts with the idea for a new stencil or tool, continues with the desire to solve a problem and ends with the usability of the finished product.

The American family business has been producing templates and other tools for woodworking for 30 years. Kreg has been successful in providing craftsmen with the right tools for woodworking projects.

Social responsibility

As an initially owner-managed company, Kreg has a great responsibility for its employees, which is not limited to salary payments. The Kreg Care program goes beyond the workforce and also supports projects in the community.

It is managed by Kathie Sommerfeld. The philanthropic activities are intended to improve the lives of employees as well as customers and partners. After several years under the leadership of Tony Hogan as CEO, founder's son Todd Sommerfeld took over the management of the tool manufacturer again in 2019. Today, Kreg is a modern company whose employees own 20 percent of the shares. In 2020, Kreg expanded into Europe.

Professional solutions for furniture makers

With the introduction of the latest generation of pocket hole jigs, Kreg continues to lead the way in the pocket hole joinery category. The design and technology of the jigs have been completely renewed. This allows carpenters to work even faster and more precisely.

The new Kreg pocket hole gauges have been developed for all types of users, from DIY enthusiasts to professionals. Each tool is designed for a specific purpose. This also extends to the area of sawing aids: these tools enable anyone to make straight, accurate and repeatable cuts with a circular saw - no mitre saw or circular table saw required.

Pocket hole drilling systems

The pocket hole drilling templates are Kreg's flagship products. These patented aids for carpenters are available in a large selection. The 310 series is designed for DIY enthusiasts and small projects. Nevertheless, it can already be used to screw workpieces together in a concealed manner. For professionals, there is the new 720PRO series, with which high-quality and durable table connection solutions can be realized. Depending on the project, simple templates are sufficient, for which extra clamps are required. Those with a little practice will be interested in the 520 series, with integrated 360 degree Versagrip fastening. The 720 pocket hole drilling jigs have, among other things, automatic adjustment to different thicknesses and simple fastening with integrated clamps.

The tools are designed to be easy to use. Apart from clamps, important parts such as drill bits are already included. The supplied material thickness gauge and the easy-to-adjust drill bit make set-up easy. The non-slip base keeps the drilling jig precisely in position. The drilling jig comes with a lifetime guarantee. The other parts are also designed so that they can be used for many years. Special screws, wooden dowels and specially developed drills for pocket holes are also available as accessories.

Drilling templates and fitting systems

The drilling template for cup hinges is easy to use and requires no prior knowledge.

If holes are to be drilled in the cupboard for additional shelf supports, a pencil and tape measure are often inaccurate. There is a great risk that the right and left sides are not in balance. For this purpose, Kreg has developed a hole line drilling system equipped with a 32 mm grid. The distances are set using the parallel stop, which is included in the scope of delivery. The template is securely fastened to the cabinet wall with a quick-release clamp or other clamp. Kreg has developed its own clamps that are particularly suitable for this purpose.

The furniture handle drilling template is a practical aid for drilling templates for all conceivable types of furniture handles, strips or knobs. The simple adjustment of the template enables quick attachment to different furniture fronts. Thanks to the metric scale, it is easy to drill holes at the same distance on several drawer fronts.

The range of fitting systems is completed by the cup hinge drilling template. This is a very user-friendly aid for quickly drilling holes for cup hinges on furniture doors. The only other tools required are a clamp or ferrule and a cordless drill driver. The hinges can be positioned very precisely thanks to the metric scaling. This makes work easier and faster when drilling repetitive holes.

Clamping systems

When working with wood, it is important to work with millimeter precision. Edges must lie exactly on top of each other, drill holes must fit into each other. To ensure that nothing slips when working, Kreg has developed clamping systems. These include quick-release clamps, corner clamps, table clamps, one-handed clamps and complete assembly tables.

The quick-release clamps fit easily into tight spaces. The simplest version has a clamping depth of 51 mm and clamps materials with a thickness of up to 57 mm. These clamps were developed for the simple screwing of a pocket hole connection. However, they are just as suitable for many other clamping options where stable clamping is required. The clamps have large clamping surfaces that distribute the clamping force evenly and keep the parts flush during assembly.

The Automaxx Face Clamp automatically adjusts to any material thickness and maintains a constant clamping pressure. It consists of a heavy-duty all-metal construction. The comfortable padded handles ensure fatigue-free handling. The clamping capacity is 76 mm.

The Kreg assembly table is ideal for all types of pocket hole connections and can be fitted with Kreg clamps.

Milling systems

Milling is one of the most common activities in wood processing. Accuracy is also important here. Kreg has therefore developed special templates and aids for different requirements that make it easier for the user when milling. One example is the Kreg router table plate, which has been specially pre-drilled for Triton routers. It also has pre-punched hole patterns for a large number of routers on the back.

The insert plate is made of thermoset plastic and has a long service life.

The range of Kreg milling systems also includes practical aids such as milling table compensators, reduction rings and workpiece stops. If you want to make your milling table mobile, you should consider the heavy-duty castors. And those looking for a complete solution should take a look at the precision router table system from Kreg. It combines unrivaled versatility with incredible adaptability and easy adjustment to professionally complete woodworking projects. It offers a unique router fence, a large, durable work surface and a sturdy base, which together form a router table that guarantees high precision. The stop surfaces of the milling fence can be adjusted independently of each other to provide the appropriate stabilization and suction to suit the milling cutter.

Sawing systems

Kreg also supports carpenters and DIY users in sawing with tools and aids that have been developed on the basis of practical experience. They help with the precise processing of wood in various thicknesses and are also suitable for high-quality plastic and metal. The mobile cross-cut station turns a hand-held circular saw into a practical cross-cut saw unit. You can even cut wider workpieces than with most cross-cut saws (305 mm at 90°). You can make variable angle and miter cuts in a range of 0-45° using the adjustable stops. An MDF base serves as an indicator for cutting lines and shows precisely where the saw edge runs. Material supports can be folded out or removed at the side. They help to cut long workpieces precisely and secure sections. The mobile Kreg cross-cut station can be set up quickly and stowed away easily.

Production errors are often caused by inaccurate estimating or incorrect marking with a tape measure and pencil. With the precision rail set and the stops it contains, craftsmen can make precise cuts with a conventional cross-cut saw. The fence is positioned to the desired dimension, then the workpieces can be cut precisely again and again. You can even build your own cross-cut saw station using an aluminum profile on wooden strips. This allows precise cross-cut saw cuts to be made easily and without great effort.

Decking systems

A terrace can be laid with wooden planks or similar plastic products. Here too, appearance plays a role; nobody wants to see or even feel protruding screws. Kreg has developed a system specifically for outdoor decking based on the Deck Jig decking template. The comfort grip offers a secure hold and control.

The hardened steel drill guides last a long time and, together with the drill bit and bit with corresponding depth stopper, even beginners can complete decking work in no time at all. For the deck jig, there are corresponding decking screws in brownish Protec protection and stainless steel. With the template and the fixed angles, every hole is always the same. A plastic spacer is available as an accessory, which can be clamped between the boards.

Workbench systems

Kreg workbenches are to complete systems what pocket hole drilling jigs are to tools. They are well thought out, focus on the user and are characterized by a long service life. The mobile multifunctional workbench is the central element of this Kreg category. It is a sawhorse, assembly table and clamping device in one, making it a versatile workstation for DIY, repair and woodworking projects. It has been designed to be easy to assemble and disassemble and requires little storage space. The set already includes a wide range of clamping accessories so that you can get started straight away.

Anyone looking for additional accessories for workbenches will also find what they are looking for at Kreg. One example is measuring tapes. They are 3.5 meters long and have a self-adhesive backing. The tape fits exactly into the recess on the top of the Kreg Top Trak and the Heavy-Duty Trak. The metal strap is abrasion-resistant and can be easily cut to size with scissors.
